Louise R. Thibodaux, PhD, 2002
Dr. Thibodaux is retired from the Department of Occupational Therapy at UAB. She currently serves as the Archdeacon for the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama. She is also on the staff as Deacon at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Birmingham. As the liaison between the Diocese and the work of 26 active deacons, her role includes networking with local agencies assisting low income clients (Community Kitchens, Habitat for Humanity, Greater Birmingham Ministries) and with national initiatives (Katrina Recovery Ministries, Kairos Prison Ministry, Jubilee Ministries). Since 2005, the Diocese has been in a companion relationship with the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti. Through this linkage Dr. Thibodaux is developing educational materials that encourage parishes to engage in mission within the framework of the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
