Karim Abu Omar, PhD, 2001
Dr. Abu Omar is Senior Lecturer/ Researcher at the Institute of Sport Science of the Friedrich-Alexander-University, Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany). He teaches courses in statistics, research methods, and public health. He is currently working on two major projects. The first is a 15 nation (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, and Spain) demonstration project to promote physical activity and develop exercise programs for older persons. The second involves development and evaluation of physical activity promotion measures using the investment for health approach of the World Health Organisation. The physical activity promotion measures target middle-aged adults and women with comparably low prevalences of physical activity.
