Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice

Requirements:
The major in Criminal Justice consists of forty-two (42) hours of coursework, including the required courses JS100, JS101, JS120 (or departmentally approved course in statistics), JS300, JS330 and JS410 (18 credit hours in total) and twenty four (24) hours of electives. At least nine (9) hours must be taken at the 400 level; transfer students must earn at least 15 hours of criminal justice credit at UAB, including at least 9 hours at the 400 level. The required forty two (42) hours are successfully fulfilled only by courses in which a grade of C or above is earned. As a requirement for graduation and for program assessment purposes, all majors are required to complete an exit examination and an exit survey during their senior year. Performance on the exit examination will not affect a student's grade point average, nor will it determine whether a student qualifies for the baccalaureate degree. The Department of Justice Sciences reserves the right, however, to require a specific grade point average as an additional prerequisite for courses at the 300 level or above.
