Daniel R. Lesnick has worked extensively in the history of medieval and Renaissance Italy. Preaching in Medieval Florence, a book published by the University of Georgia Press, is the result of his long time interest in popular preaching in that great Tuscan city. He has written on crime and the small politics of everyday life in medieval Italy, and his current research interests include Franciscan pilgrimage from the Middle Ages to the modern day. Dr. Lesnick's research has been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Fulbright-Hays grants, and the American Philosophical Society. He is a Former Fellow of the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies (Villa I Tatti) in Florence, Italy, has won the Rome Prize, and is a Lifetime Fellow of the American Academy in Rome.
