Slideshow - Central Mexico Slides

In indigenous regions of southern Mexico spring is a time for petitioning dieties for rain to support agricultural production. The fiestas in which these petitions are made are generally dramatic affairs, with much drinking, dancing, and praying leading up to a particular moment when flowers, food, drink, tobacco, and so on, are given as offerings. This photo shows a line of people bearing offerings, with dancers looking on.
